Overview

Being made from a timber frame, the VIC is a full-sized house located in the East Midlands. Vistry plans to use the site as an educational piece for the industry, showcasing the innovations needed for housebuilders to meet future home standards.

The VIC is a unique, sector-leading facility with cutting-edge technologies that are set to be used in future homes as the housebuilding sector heads towards Net Zero.

Kelda’s Air-Powered™ technology has been verified to use 55% less water per year than a conventional mixer shower, also using 2,200 kWh less of energy per year.

Air-Power Technology

A typical home could cut its carbon emissions by approximately 630kgCO² (11%) by installing a Kelda Air-Powered™ Shower instead of a conventional mixer shower, hence why Kelda’s Deluxe Shower Panel with eHandset was specified in VIC.

Conventional aerating showers simply mix air with water through a small hole, limiting flow but offering no real boost in spray force.

In contrast, Kelda’s patented Air-Powered™ technology uses fuel injection principles, combining a microprocessor and digital fan to deliver water into a high-velocity air stream. This creates hundreds of larger droplets – 2.5× the size of a standard shower – giving 15× more impact for a powerful, efficient shower that rinses shampoo faster while using less water.
