Kelda Showers is celebrating winning the Sustainable Tech Company of the Year Award at the South Coast Tech Awards 2023, which recognises the region’s outstanding tech businesses.
The awards, organised by The Business Magazine Group Limited and hosted by Lucy Porter, a well-known face on TV and stand-up comedian, were presented at the Hilton at The Ageas Bowl in Southampton last night.
The judges described the Hampshire-based shower innovators as a company contributing to the growing push for sustainable practices and business, while reducing the impact of business on the environment.
The company’s Air-Powered showers use the principles of fuel-injection technology to minimise water and hot water energy consumption in showering, something that we all do on average for seven-and-a-half minutes a day. In a recent domestic shower trial supported by Barratt Developments plc and Energy Saving Trust, Kelda’s innovative Air-Powered showers have proven to reduce water and hot water energy use by a staggering 55% and lower total household carbon emissions by 10%. All without compromising experience or performance.
Kelda Showers is keen to thank Chris Williams and the team at BDO UK LLP for sponsoring the category and recognising the contribution the tech company makes to delivering net zero. BDO is one of the UK’s largest accountancy and business advisory firms providing audit, advisory, tax and business services & outsourcing services to clients all over the world.
“We are on a mission to deliver the best shower experience using the least amount of water. They help to reduce hot water use and reduce carbon emissions. We are at the point now of taking this into the house-building sector. It’s a global opportunity for us to make a real difference. We are working with UK national house builders to help them meet their targets on carbon emissions and reducing water usage. This is just the start for us. Our Air-Powered technology is very scalable so there are many more opportunities ahead.”Paul Ravnbo-WestMarketing Director, Kelda Showers
Richard Thompson, Managing Director at The Business Magazine, said: “A few years ago, tech was never a sector that you could say was synonymous with Southampton and the South Coast. But that has changed.”
The awards mark another successful year for Kelda who continues to disrupt the shower industry one drop at a time.
