how does it work?  eco power shower technology Pressurised air is ducted from a small (remote or integrated) air pump unit to the shower water outlet, and from there along the co-axial hose to the handset which houses Kelda’s ‘Flexion Venturi’ engine (developed in conjunction with Southampton University).  The engine accelerates the air and uses it to break up the water into droplets and increase their velocity.  This creates a forceful and consistent shower spray at the desired temperature and eliminates the need for a water pump.
The user is able choose the power of the spray boost and an adjustable handset affords control over the spray angle
Kelda technology utilises air recycled from the shower enclosure.  Recycling air ensures that the heat energy from a hot shower lost to the surrounding air is re-used
Compatible with Gravity-fed, pressurised and Combi-boiler water systems (3 ltr/min+).   - Low-performance gravity-fed showers can be greatly improved with Kelda boost. - Two showers can be run simultaneously using a low-power Combi-boiler (~15kW).
Remote air pump unit can be integrated with digital & electric showers units
Makes an 8.5kW electric shower more powerful than a standard 10.5kW without the need to upgrade domestic wiring

reducing waste  ‘The key to water efficiency is reducing waste, not restricting use’ - Waterwise With conventional mixer & power (pumped) showers, only a small proportion of the water used makes contact with the body, with the remaining volume acting as propellant.  This additional water and the energy used to heat it is wasted.  Mixer and power showers typically have a flow rate of 10-20 litres/min. Excerpt from New Scientist Article, Dec 2011. ‘Clean Tech in Stormy Times’ - Carbon Trust. (Kelda) set out to improve things.  (They) designed a shower head that combines high-pressure air with hot water and found they could create a shower with less than half the normal amounts of water and energy’. Kelda technology efficiently propels a much lower water flow with high-speed air.  Typically, a flow of 5-6 Ltr/min will deliver a comparable experience to a typical mixer shower at double the flow, whilst generating significant savings in water consumption, energy use and on utility bills.  It’s efficiency without compromise.
